In the August of 1960 the Soviet dogs Belka and Strelka became the fist dogs to return alive from space. Strelka gave birth to 6 puppies afterwards, and Nikita Khrushchev, then head of state of the USSR, decided to give one of the puppies to John. F Kennedy.
