2,000 years ago, Royalty from The Han Dynasty were laid to rest entirely ensheathed in jade suits comprised of thousands of pieces of cut and polished jade, sewn together with gold thread. Mined as early as 6000BC, the Chinese thought jade would preserve the body and aid in immortality.
