Valeri Bezpalov and Alexi Ananeko (pictured) along with Boris Baranov, were dubbed the suicide squad. Their actions during the 1986 Chernobyl Disaster prevented a second explosion which would have led to a total meltdown of the reactor. If this happened, the fallout may have spread to Europe.
